Rules for Training Days

1.  Safety - Unsafe conduct or actions will not be tolerated.

2.  Have Fun - Dog training is a long and demanding process so do your best to make it fun for everyone, dogs included.

3.  Sportsmanship - Respect the animals we work with, respect the land and protect it for the future, unsportsmanlike or abusive conduct will not be permitted.

4.  Dogs - No loose dogs, your dog/dogs must be either tied out or on a solid lead when not working. Your dog's food, water and sanitary conditions are YOUR responsibility.  Don't expect "someone else" to watch, water, or clean up after your dog.  Respect and admire other peoples' dogs but DON'T HANDLE ANYBODY'S DOGS WITHOUT PERMISSION.

5.  Guns - All guns are to be action-open and unloaded at all times except when time to shoot.    All shooters must have a current hunting license, dog training license and/or hunter safety certificate where needed.  All persons in bird field must wear some hunter orange.

6.  Be a Good Example - Don't forget that we must set a higher standard by example and as such ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL will be permitted at club field functions.

7.  Guests - Each member may invite and sponsor a guest or guests to all open club functions.  As that guest's sponsor you are totally responsible for any costs incurred by that guest and for all the actions of that guest.  As a sponsored guest you will be advised by your sponsor of the rules, and proper conduct will be required.

8.  Courtesy - Be prompt and prepared.  Training days and times are limited.  So that each member has their fair amount of training time, use the training day as time to learn and teach, not as your only training time.  Do not give commands or try to control another's dog unless asked or a dangerous situation exists.

9.     Note: Until further notice, current conditions override this rule

Live Bird Rule - In a measure to make sure all regulations about live game birds are met and raise money for the club, OK-NAVHDA will have available live game birds for purchase.  For these reasons, absolutely NO LIVE outside birds will be allowed (unless otherwise indicated for a particular training day).  Dead birds with proper documentation will be permitted.

10.  Be a NAVHDA supporter - Make it fun for everyone - since there are no paid trainers involved, everyone should contribute to the level of their ability.  Every member should be a cheerful volunteer. Be supportive and positive in your actions and comments.
